After a whirl wind couple of days of cleaning and packing and being busy, I am finally in England! Can’t believe this is my first time here!
On Tuesday morning, I left this:
One very annoyed and pissed off dog.
For this:
What was initially an amazing welcome to London, got a little tense for a bit. I woke up to the sunrise over the clouds and then a gorgeous view of the Thames and all of London. Then we landed in Heathrow and I feel lucky to have gotten this far after the fiasco that was immigration. Apparently I look dodgy. Or they were annoyed because I didn’t have Paul’s address to put on my tourist card. Or maybe they were annoyed that my passport expires in October. Either or, I was given the fifth degree. I think they thought I was trying to illegally immigrate. Let’s just say after that conversation, I was more than happy to be heading out for a pint! Let’s just hope they are nicer about on my further adventures. There’s talk of a day trip to France. Dang this passport is going out with a bang!
The drive to Bournemouth was very pretty - such a different landscape than I am used to! After my last trip to Montana it was a very different view of wheat fields. I still love me some Big Sky though! And of course, driving on the wrong side (well riding actually) was bizarre! I was very glad I wasn't behind the wheel!!!
We had a lovely walk on the beach (oh how I have missed the ocean!!!).
Saw some special forces parachuting into the ocean – which Paul explained they (being nutters) do to practice getting picked up by submarines. We enjoyed some sun, then got rained on (shocking, I know).
Bournemouth is lovely and it was good to have a nice walk and stretch my legs!
Oh and it wasn’t too shabby to have an awesome fry-up either.
And a cool refreshing pint of Carlsberg (yes Engle, it is better here!). And I knicked loads of packets of HP sauce – who knew you could get HP sauce in packets.
This afternoon we went for a drive and saw loads of crazy kite surfers. It was beautiful and sunny and if I had my camera, I would have taken more pictures. After a quick stop at Tesco – where I may or may not have purchased some dark chocolate covered Hob Nobs, we headed back to Paul’s for a break – which turned into me finally crashing. Who knew that a pint and a full English breakfast could contribute to sleepiness!
I pretty much dozed off and on this afternoon, then woke up and did some yoga and had a delicious dinner. And maybe a cider. And some proper tea. Oh and a couple of Hob Nobs. Mmmm.
No idea what we are doing yet tomorrow because I think there are too many variables to make any decisions but FRIDAY we head to Nottingham for the Windridge reunion! It’s going to be a blast!
And that’s all for now! I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff but I’m a little bit slap happy tired right now.

Pinch some HP packets for me and could you manage to bring home some prawn flavored crisps? The girls think I am having them on about that! Glad you got to see the sun!
ReplyDeleteI hope I get a better welcome when I land at Edinburgh airport in 3 weeks. My passport is valid for another 5 years!
ReplyDeleteI know that at the moment Scotland is having loads of rain but hopefully when we arrive the summer will be in full swing, lol.
Enjoy your visit to Nottingham, we did last year.
